Mitsotakis met with Abbas: Immediate need for a ceasefire

The Prime Minister expressed concern about the growing escalation that risks destabilising the wider region

The Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis met with Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas on the sidelines of the 79th Session of the UN General Assembly.

During the meeting, the Prime Minister reiterated the need for an immediate ceasefire, the release of hostages and the provision of humanitarian aid in Gaza.

Kyriakos Mitsotakis expressed his concern about the intensifying escalation that risks destabilizing the wider region.

The Prime Minister stressed the need to restart the political process leading to a two-state solution.

Mitsotakis meeting with the president of Panama

Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis also met with the President of Panama José Raúl Mulino on the sidelines of the 79th Session of the UN General Assembly.

During the meeting, the priorities of the two countries during their co-service as non-permanent members of the UN Security Council in the period 2025-26 were discussed.
