Thessaloniki: Arrested for domestic violence after he learned that his 38-year-old wife was secretly having botox – “I want her as she is”

The 38-year-old woman in court claimed that she lied about a bruise on her face to prevent her husband from realizing that she had undergone Botox

Newsroom October 8 10:03

A cosmetic surgery on the face of spouse (botox) and her refusal to admit it, was the cause that “triggered” a heated argument between a husband and wife in Thessaloniki, resulting in the case being taken up by the Automatic Single-Member Plenary Court.

According to the indictment, it all happened last Friday night when the couple had a heated argument inside their apartment, as the husband suspected that the 38-year-old had botoxed the morning of that day and did not agree with her actions.

At some point the verbal fight appeared to get out of hand and the woman called the Emergency Response Center, reporting her husband for domestic violence and showing the bruise on her face. Officers handcuffed the man and he was charged with domestic simple assault.

Testifying in court, the 38-year-old woman argued before the judges that her husband had never used physical violence against her and that she had consumed too much alcohol, which contributed to the fight getting out of control. Regarding the bruise on her face, she claimed that she lied to police that her husband had caused it so that they would not know that she had had Botox, knowing that she disagreed with the cosmetic procedure.

“I didn’t want him to know I had Botox, I had had the procedure this morning. He would ask me how I spent my day and I would tell him all sorts of lies. That’s why I told the police that he caused the ink on my face, I didn’t want him to know about the Botox. He is a good husband, we have a little child,” she said and continued: “We had a fight and on top of the fight I knocked down a bottle. He was saying ‘I like you the way you are’. He told me to call the police.”

Beginning his apology, the defendant told judges that he “didn’t need to have Botox” and denied hitting his wife.

“She threw a bottle, I didn’t hit her. I took the child and went outside to calm down. I told her to call the police. She was furious, she couldn’t calm down. She had a lot of nerves. I don’t want her to have Botox, I want her the way she is. She is 38 years old and then she will regret it,” she concluded.

Although the prosecutor of the court recommended his guilt for the accused act, as the complainant presented two different versions – to the police and to the court, which were in stark contrast to each other regarding the facts, in the end the court found the accused not guilty due to doubts.
