USA: Rock legend Bruce Springsteen joins Harris’ campaign

The 75-year-old rock star is expected to perform some of his most popular songs in Atlanta at a campaign rally with Harris and Obama

Newsroom October 22 11:15

Rock music legend Bruce Springsteen will perform a concert and appear at campaign rallies alongside former President Barack Obama in Atlanta and Philadelphia in the coming days, as part of a series of events in support of Vice President Kamala Harris in the crucial states, a senior official said today.

With early voting underway, Harris’s campaign team is confident that these events will spark voter enthusiasm, with the goal of getting voters to the polls in states that will decide the outcome in the highly contested November election between Democrat Harris and her Republican rival Donald Trump.

The 75-year-old rock star is expected to perform some of his most popular songs, including “Born to Run,” on Thursday in Atlanta at a campaign rally with Harris and Obama. It will be the first time the presidential candidate and the former president will appear together on this campaign trail.

On Monday, Springsteen will appear in Philadelphia with Obama, the senior official also said.

In 2016, Bruce Springsteen had performed three of his songs at a rally in front of 20,000 people in Philadelphia to support then-Democrat Hillary Clinton’s campaign. In 2008, the great musician had performed seven of his songs before tens of thousands of people on the city’s Benjamin Franklin Parkway in support of the Obama campaign.

In October, Springsteen announced his support for Harris, saying she and her vice presidential candidate Tim Walsh have a “vision for this country that respects and includes everyone, regardless of social class, religion, race, political opinion or sexual identity.”

Taylor Swift, Pink, Oprah Winfrey, George Clooney and many other celebrities support Harris and Walsh.
