Trump spoke to Joe Rogan about tariffs, alien life and his biggest mistake as president (video)

The discussion expanded on a myriad of topics, from the Republican candidate's economic plan if he wins the Nov. 5 election and his claims of a "rigged ballot" in 2020

For three full hours, Donald Trump chatted with Joe Rogan on the latter’s popular podcast “The Joe Rogan Experience,” with the episode released Friday night.

The discussion ranged across a plethora of topics, from the Republican candidate’s economic plan if he wins the November 5 election and his claims of a “rigged ballot” in 2020, to the possibility of life on other planets and the mistakes of his previous tenure in the White House.

Asked during his interview by Rogan whether he thought he had chosen the right people to assign offices in the White House, Trump said his “biggest mistake” was that he had assigned offices to “bad or uncommitted people”. In this context, he referred to John Kelly, a former White House chief of staff during the Trump presidency, and John Bolton, a former national security adviser.

During the conversation, Trump once again repeated the claim that the 2020 election was “rigged” and avoided directly answering Rogan’s question about presenting evidence.

The discussion moved to the current political situation, with Rogan stating that “now the rebels are the Republicans” and calling conservatives “punk rock”, as opposed to liberals, who promote censorship. Trump agreed, saying that his political opponents were persecuting him, which only happens in third world countries, and added that he could have sent Hillary Clinton to jail.

Asked about Robert Kennedy Jr, who is supporting Trump’s candidacy after withdrawing from the race, the Republican confirmed his intention to appoint him to his administration. However, he expressed some reservations about Kennedy’s environmental positions on energy, noting: “He doesn’t love oil. I love it.”

Rogan then asked Trump if, when he was president, he had been informed of the existence of extraterrestrial life. He replied that he never believed in life on other planets, but then pointed out that he had spoken to very resonable pilots who reported seeing “very strange things” in the sky. “There is no reason not to believe that there is no life on Mars and all of these planets,” Trump said.

The discussion on the economy was also important. According to the New York Times, Trump appeared in the interview to support the idea of repealing the federal income tax and returning to economic policies that existed before the early 20th century.

“Have you mentioned the idea of replacing income taxes with tariffs? Were you seriously talking about that?” asked Rogan of Trump, who addressed the issue on Fox News last Monday. “Yeah, sure. Why not?” replied Trump, again praising 25th U.S. President William McKinley for his own economic policies, which he considers very successful.
