Israel: Security council convenes – Talks on a Diplomatic solution to the Lebanon war on the table

An Israeli official has stated that another round of negotiations will take place this week for the release of hostages, with this session to be held in Egypt

Newsroom October 29 06:18

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu convened a security council meeting at 20:00 today, gathering his cabinet ministers and intelligence chiefs to discuss diplomatic efforts for a resolution to the conflict in Lebanon, reported Axios journalist Barak Ravid on X, citing two sources and Israeli media.

In addition, an Israeli official informed the Times of Israel that another round of talks will occur this week to discuss the release of hostages, with negotiations set to take place in Egypt this time.

The head of the Israeli delegation is expected to be Mossad chief David Barnea.

Furthermore, U.S. special envoy Amos Hochstein is scheduled to visit Israel next week to continue advocating for a cessation of hostilities in Lebanon.

Hochstein will meet with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and other senior Israeli officials.

“Israel is seeking long-term diplomatic assurances” to end its conflict with Hezbollah, the official stated.

According to Axios, CIA Director Burns recently proposed a 28-day ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hamas, which would include the release of at least eight hostages — either women or men over 50 years old — held by the Palestinian Islamist movement, alongside the release of dozens of Palestinians.
