Explosion in Ampelokipoi: The 30-year-old woman who had the keys to the apartment has been arrested

The woman is believed to have a key role in the case - She was abroad, she returned and she was arrested

Newsroom November 4 07:47

Today, Counter-Terrorism officers arrested the woman who had received the keys to the hideout apartment on Arkadias Street in Ampelokipoi.

The woman had been outside Greece and was arrested immediately upon her return, as a warrant had been issued for her arrest.

Meanwhile, shocking images have emerged from the Arkadias Street hideout apartment, which was destroyed after a powerful explosion.

Photos obtained and published by protothema.gr reveal the extensive destruction caused by the blast, with the scene resembling a bombed-out area. Rubble, bricks, furniture, and household items are all tangled together in a chaotic mess, while big traces of blood can be seen in certain spots.

In addition, the Hellenic Police today released photographs of items found in the destroyed apartment. Among them are masks and notes containing instructions for constructing an explosive device.

Counter-Terrorism authorities also announced the formation of a case file for participation in a terrorist organization and, in some cases, the execution of terrorist acts, targeting three individuals (a 31-year-old man and two women aged 33 and 30, respectively). The first individual voluntarily surrendered on the evening of November 1, 2024, was subsequently arrested, and will be brought before the judicial authorities.

The body of the man killed in the explosion has also been forensically identified as belonging to a 36-year-old male. To date, searches have been conducted in three residences and one vehicle, where, among other items, authorities found and seized two pistols with magazines, numerous digital devices (laptops, tablets, and USB sticks), mobile phones, SIM cards, facial disguise items such as wigs and full-face masks, a large collection of keys, handwritten notes, and diagrams.
