“The great thing happening in the U.S. right now is democracy,” was U.S. Ambassador to Greece George Tsounis’ first comment on the U.S. election results at a shipping fuel conference on Wednesday morning.

“The world has decided who it wants to be governed by and in that sacred position now stands Donald Trump awaiting the official announcement of the results,” he added.

“America is a democratic country,” the US ambassador to Greece said, referring to a wonderful process that originated in ancient Greece.

“It is always important that people’s opinions are heard and that is the ideal of democracy,” he noted.
