Cyprus: Student went to school with €15,000 and gave money to classmates

He gave €3,500 to a classmate to buy a scooter – The child returned home with freshly-creased €100 bills, said the father of a student who received €500

An unbelievable incident took place at a secondary school in Nicosia, Cyprus. According to Alpha News, a student arrived at school last week with €15,000 in cash, part of which he distributed to his classmates.

Some students received significant amounts, with one being given €3,500 to buy a motorbike, while another girl received €500.

Parents and teachers at the school are deeply concerned, and the school’s administration has requested that the students who received the money return it immediately. However, according to local reports, some of the students have already spent the money.

The father of the girl who received €500 spoke on a local program and shared how his daughter informed him about the money. “I saw the money, told her to return it, and she said she would be the only one to return it. So, she didn’t give it back. I told her to give it to me, but she didn’t,” he said. He also noted that the money was “creased €100 bills” and was worried it seemed like it came from a bank.

The father expressed his concerns, adding, “She took five of them. That worried me more because it looked like they came from a bank. I reported it to the police. How is it possible for a student to have €15,000 and distribute it at school? Something is not right.”

The school contacted the family, asking for the €500 back, though only they were contacted, not the other students who received money.
