Norway: Princess Mette-Marit’s 27-year-old son arrested for rape

Last August he was arrested again for assaulting his partner

Newsroom November 19 11:40

The 27-year-old son of Norway’s Princess Mette-Marit was arrested Monday night on suspicion of rape, local police said.

Marius Borg Habee, the princess’ son from a relationship before her marriage to heir to the throne, Prince Haakon, in 2001, is accused of violating an article of the criminal code that deals with “sexual acts with a person who is unconscious or in another state that makes him or her unable to react.”

In its statement, Norwegian police clarified that the charges involve sexual intercourse without intercourse, and more specifically an act without the consent of the victim, since the victim was allegedly incapable of reacting.

It will be recalled that the 27-year-old had been arrested on August 4 in Oslo, following an incident that occurred in the apartment of a woman with whom he was having an affair.

Habee had been charged with causing bodily harm to his partner. According to Norwegian media, authorities had also found a knife stuck in her bedroom wall.

Habee was arrested again last September for violating the restrictive conditions imposed on him.

According to police, when he was last arrested last Monday, he was in a car with the alleged victim in the August case.

According to the Guardian, Norwegian police confirmed today that the charges related to the August incident are linked to domestic violence legislation.

It has not yet been decided whether the son of Norway’s princess will remain in custody, or whether he will be released on parole.

Marius Borg Habee, unlike his half-brothers, Princess Ingrid Alexandra and Prince Sverre Magnus, has no official public role. The three children grew up together, however, Marius has chosen a life away from royal duties.
