Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center: Christmas lighting ceremony on December 1st

Hosted by actress Smaragda Karydi

Newsroom November 27 02:40

The Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center (SNFCC) will kick off the holiday season with its annual Christmas lighting ceremony, hosted by actress Smaragda Karydi. The event will take place on Sunday, December 1st, at 7:00 PM.

Once again, the SNFCC dons its festive attire, welcoming visitors free of charge to one of Athens‘ most enchanting Christmas destinations. On this magical evening, thousands of holiday lights will illuminate the plane trees along the Canal and the decorated fir trees in the Agora. The Stavros Niarchos Park transforms into a dreamlike landscape, featuring the Light Installations Festival: four art pieces by distinguished international artists and two contributions from Greek creators, choreographing mesmerizing displays of light.

The Canal’s fountains add their own spectacular touch, dancing and glowing in rhythm with festive tunes. Enhancing the celebration, the ice rink on the Canal invites skaters of all levels to glide across the ice.

At 7:00 PM, live performances will take place at the SNFCC Agora. VOX The Acapella Group, Greece’s first pop polyphonic ensemble that uses the human voice as a musical instrument, will take the stage alongside singer Sofia Strati. With her charismatic voice, Strati will perform pop and R’n’B hits, as well as beloved Christmas classics.

The event will be broadcast live on ERT2 and will also be available for streaming on ERTFLIX.
