In a thrilling match that remained competitive for 33 minutes, PAOK managed to turn the tide in the final stretch with an explosive five-minute performance, transforming the game into their own success story. A game-changing 16-0 run allowed Massimo Cancellieri’s squad to overcome a 4-point deficit (62-58 at the 33rd minute) and catapult to a 12-point lead (62-74). This decisive streak sealed the victory for PAOK, with five players scoring in double digits, including standout performances from Bartley (18 points), Upson (15 points), and Persidis (12 points).

The game began with Kalev establishing an early momentum after a closely contested first four minutes (7-6). A 11-2 run gave the Estonian hosts a 10-point lead (18-8 at the 6th minute). PAOK managed to cut the gap to four points (21-17 at the 8th minute) before the first quarter ended with Kalev leading 28-21.

A critical moment came in the 12th minute when Kalev’s Kasper Suurorg suffered what appeared to be a serious injury. PAOK capitalized, leveling the score at 31-31 and eventually taking the lead (33-34) with a 13-5 run. Despite this, the first half ended with Kalev holding a narrow 42-39 advantage, led by Kauklaine and Bockler, who each had 8 points. For PAOK, Devonte Upson stood out with 11 points, while Persidis contributed significantly with 8 points, including two three-pointers.

The second half continued to be a nail-biter. The teams exchanged leads, staying neck-and-neck at 53-53 in the 27th minute, with Bartley and Katsivelis playing key roles for PAOK. At the end of the third quarter, Kalev maintained a slim advantage, leading 57-56.

The turning point came at the 33rd minute when Kalev extended their lead to 62-58. PAOK responded with an extraordinary 16-0 run, surging ahead to 62-74 with just three minutes remaining. This run proved decisive, allowing PAOK to secure their first win in the Round of 16 and start their FIBA Europe Cup campaign on the right foot.
