Poachers killed deer in Sintiki Serres – Two arrests and fines

The perpetrators attempted to flee - The administrative fines imposed amount to 1,750 euros

The arrest of two people was made by members of the game police of the Hunting Federation of Macedonia – Thrace, in Kerkini, the municipality of Sintiki Serron.

Specifically, there was a complaint of illegal hunting in a Wildlife Sanctuary in an area of the municipality of Sintiki, and the game police officers of the Komath (Hunting Federation of Macedonia and Thrace) located and arrested two people who did not hold hunting licenses and had illegally killed two zarkadi, according to thestival.gr.

The perpetrators, attempted to flee, without succeeding, while the operation took place under conditions of heavy rainfall. The offenders were taken to the police station, where they were charged and the relevant lawsuits were drawn up. The offences recorded were (a) hunting deer, (b) hunting without a licence, (c) hunting at night, (d) hunting in a Wildlife Sanctuary, (e) refusal to control.

The administrative fines fines that were imposed amount to 1,750 euros, while the major violations (misdemeanors) , went the way of justice after the filing of the relevant lawsuits.

The announcement:

On Monday 9/12/2024, shortly before midnight, a mixed team of the game police of the KOMATH, consisting of Mr. Gerakoudis, Mr. Pancius and Mr. Mouzenidis, taking advantage of a complaint about illegal hunting in a Wildlife Refuge in an area of the Municipality of Sintiki, (P.E. Serres), located and arrested two people who did not hold hunting licenses and had illegally killed two deer.

The perpetrators attempted to flee, but were unsuccessful, while the operation took place in conditions of heavy rainfall.

The offenders were taken to the police station, where they were charged and charges were drawn up.

From the above, it is evident that the game guard of the CMATH is at the highest level of operational effectiveness and no matter how difficult the prevailing conditions are, it is fully performing its role in protecting the natural environment.
