According to the same sources, discussions for the €600–700 million deal are taking place alongside negotiations between the two countries for Greece to purchase an air and missile defense shield from Israel valued at €2 billion.

The Greek government plans to submit the agreement to a parliamentary committee for approval during the first quarter of 2025, the officials told Reuters.

The report also highlights Greece’s defense procurement program, stating, “Athens has drawn up a multibillion-euro, decade-long acquisition plan, which includes the purchase of up to 40 new F-35 fighter jets from the U.S. and four frigates from France.”

Additionally, a source cited by Reuters mentioned that the Government Council for Foreign Affairs and Defense (KYSEA), which convened today, approved the procurement of American Switchblade drones.
