The lyricist Nikos Vrettos, who had written major hits of Greek song, has passed away.

The news of his death was announced in a post on social media by his friend and former SYRIZA MP Sakis Papadopoulos.

“Unbearable grief: a beloved friend, Nikos Vrettos, the inspiring lyricist, poet, intellectual, has “passed away”… Good journey to eternity, Nikos,” he wrote.

Nikos Vrettos was originally from Naxos. He lived for many years in Athens and in recent years in Trikala, where his wife, Sasa Psalla, was from.
