Newsroom December 20 06:46

Kimberly Guilfoyle, nominated by Donald Trump as the U.S. Ambassador to Athens, expressed excitement and anticipation for her role in Greece. Following Senate approval of her appointment, she is expected to move to Greece.

In a statement to ERTnews, Ms. Guilfoyle emphasized that Greece is a valuable NATO ally and a pillar of stability and security in the region.

She also addressed economic matters, stating, “Greece is building a strong economy, powered by the Greek people,” and highlighted the remarkable resilience of Greek society despite challenges. She noted that Greece is currently one of the fastest-growing economies in Europe.

“I will work to ensure that the strong relationship between Greece and the United States continues to deepen under President Trump’s leadership,” she said, adding, “My appointment to Athens underscores President Trump’s appreciation for Greece and reflects the deep and dynamic relationship between our two countries.”

Ms. Guilfoyle expressed gratitude to Archbishop Elpidophoros of America, John Catsimatidis, and leaders of the Greek-American community for their support and warm wishes for her success. She also extended her gratitude to the current U.S. Ambassador to Greece, George Tsunis, for his support and crucial role in ensuring a smooth transition.

“I look forward to embarking on my mission as the U.S. Ambassador to Greece. I am eager to meet Greek citizens and visit your beautiful country, rich in history. I will strive to fulfill President Donald Trump’s expectations by serving both the American and Greek people to the best of my abilities,” she concluded, extending Christmas greetings.

Full Statement:

“It is a particular honor for me to accept President Donald Trump’s proposal to serve as the next U.S. Ambassador to Greece, and I look forward to securing the support of the relevant U.S. Senate committee.

I am thrilled to collaborate with the Greek government and work to ensure that the strong relationship between Greece and the United States continues to deepen under President Trump’s leadership. As a valuable NATO ally, Greece plays an important role in the European Union and serves as a pillar of stability and security in the region. My appointment to Athens underscores President Trump’s appreciation for Greece and reflects the deep and dynamic relationship between our two countries.

Greece is currently one of the fastest-growing economies in Europe. Over the past decade, Greece has built a strong economy, powered by the resilience of its people. Despite significant challenges, Greek society has demonstrated remarkable strength. Under President Trump’s leadership, and in collaboration with the Greek government, I look forward to assuming my duties as the next U.S. Ambassador and promoting an agenda focused on robust economic growth, education, energy security, and defense cooperation.

Greece, as the birthplace of democracy, has profoundly influenced America’s founding principles of liberty and equality. The democratic ideals established in Greece have shaped the U.S. democratic system. The United States and Greece share a strong bond rooted in mutual respect, shared values, and a commitment to freedom and sovereignty.

I would like to express my gratitude to Archbishop Elpidophoros, the religious and spiritual leader of the Greek Orthodox Church in America, to John Catsimatidis, a close friend of President Trump, and to all the leaders of the Greek-American community for their support and warm wishes for my success.

I am preparing for my transition to Greece and want to express my deep gratitude to Ambassador George Tsunis for his support and critical role in ensuring a smooth handover.

The longstanding and historic ties between the United States and Greece, and the dynamic and successful Greek-American community in the U.S., have played a crucial role in strengthening this relationship.
