Tests have confirmed that the wife of the 71-year-old man currently hospitalized in the ICU of “Papageorgiou” Hospital in Thessaloniki has also tested positive for metapneumovirus.

As reported earlier by protothema.gr, the woman exhibited milder symptoms compared to her husband, and similarly mild symptoms were observed in their daughter.

It is worth noting that, according to hospital sources, the 71-year-old’s daughter had traveled to China during the holiday season and reportedly returned with flu-like symptoms.

Initially, the 71-year-old man sought medical attention at a private clinic with symptoms of pneumonia, but it was eventually determined that he needed to be transferred to the emergency department of “Papageorgiou” Hospital.
