Alexis Kougias: “It is known the problem I am facing, things are not good for me”

The criminal lawyer appeared particularly distressed after the meeting of the Appeals Committee of the EPO yesterday - The outburst of his son, Christos

Newsroom January 9 10:47

The Alexis Kougias was at the EPO Appeals Committee yesterday to defend PAOK coach Razvan Louchescu in his appeal against his four-month ban from the pitch. In video footage of the criminal lawyer’s statements after the proceedings, he appeared particularly distressed and many were concerned about his image.

Alexis Kougias spoke on the morning TV program Happy Day today, stressing that the health issue he is facing is well known.

“My interview there was given after a long process and after an all-day presence in the courts, at the Court of Appeal yesterday morning. My problem has been known for three years. I am dealing with it, the doctors tell me not to worry and that is why I am in court and in my office for 10 hours a day.

Thanks a lot to people for their concern but things are good for me. For me it goes without saying that what I am doing since I am running an organisation, since my mind is what it has been for 50 years, managing the affairs of my office, my family and my social affairs, my passions, I have not realised why I should abstain from this way of life,” he said.

Alexis Kougias then pointed out: “I have repeatedly stated this and I am sad when the youngest of me are absent from their daily lives when they face a health problem. I wouldn’t want to go into details about his health problem, but it is a treatable problem.”

In the past, Alexis Kougias has said he was diagnosed with a tumor near his lymph nodes, which he had removed along with half of his lymph nodes.

Alexis Kougias’ son’s outburst

Alexis Kougias’ 22-year-old son, Christos, after comments “flooded” the internet about his father’s statements and image after defending Razvan Louchescu, erupted on social media.

In particular, Christos Kougias posted a family photo with his father and sister, writing in a strong tone:

“F…ing society and disgusting mentality in this country. Mocking and wishing death on a sick person for fan reasons. Not to think that this man is a father, that he has children to read and live with. This is the Greek, immortal Greece.”
