Athens Metro: Man who fell onto the tracks at “Ethniki Amyna” station found dead

Emergency modifications to Line 3 services

The man who fell onto the metro tracks at “Ethniki Amyna” station was retrieved deceased. According to a statement by the Fire Department, “The body of a man was recovered from a metro train near ‘Ethniki Amyna’ station and was taken away by an EKAV ambulance. Twelve firefighters with four vehicles participated in the recovery operation.”

To assist passengers and until traffic on the entire Line 3 of the Metro is restored, an emergency bus route named “Special Service” has been set up, running between Katechaki and Halandri stations and stopping at all Metro stations in this section. Service on Line 3 is currently operating between Dimotiko Theatro – Katechaki and Doukissis Plakentias – Agia Paraskevi, due to a suicide attempt at “Ethniki Amyna” station.

Ten firefighters with three vehicles are present at the scene.
