Diamantopoulou: Mitsotakis’ proposal for the President of the Hellenic Republic is a right-wing turn and with purely partisan perceptions

Mitsotakis' proposal for the President of the Republic is a right-wing turn and has purely party concepts, Diamantopoulou says

Newsroom January 16 03:31

“The country’s pyramid of power as defined by the President of the Republic, the Prime Minister, and the Speaker of Parliament should strengthen national unity through the consensual election of the President of the Republic,” Anna Diamantopoulou expressing her objections to the government’s proposal of Kosta Tasoulas to the Presidency of the Republic.

“The proposal of the Prime Minister and President of the New Democracy confirm a purely right-wing shift in his political narrative towards old-fashioned, phobic, inward-looking and purely partisan views,” he added, among other things.

All the details of her post:

The pyramid of power of the country as defined by the President of the Republic, the Prime Minister and the Speaker of the Parliament should strengthen national unity through the consensual election of the President of the Republic. This is the spirit of the Constitution and the political mores of the post-independence period. This did not happen.

The proposal of the Prime Minister and the President of the New Democracy confirms a right-wing shift in the political narrative towards old-fashioned, fearful, inward-looking, and purely partisan views.

And beyond that, the whole handling of the issue has insulted the institution and the individuals. PASOK, concerning the institutions and away from party games and expediencies, nominates Tasos Giannitsis. An internationally renowned professor of economics and at the same time an iconic political personality with low-key and high goals.

Tasos Giannitsis has a long career in academia, politics, and a rich body of writing. He symbolizes the importance of reforms aimed at the interest and future of the many, the serving of the public rather than personal interest, and the need for national planning in foreign policy with a goal and result. We continue. Citizens’ problems first!
