Norwegian F-35s deployed after Russian aircraft entered Polish airspace

The move comes a day after Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk accused Russia of planning "terrorist acts" in the air against Poland and other countries

Newsroom January 16 11:00

Two Norwegian F-35 fighters stationed in Poland were deployed yesterday (Wednesday) in response to a “huge number of Russian aircraft” entering Polish airspace, NATO’s air command said Thursday in a post on X.

This is the first time that Norwegian F35s, which were sent to Poland last December, have flown into Polish airspace.

Yesterday, Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk accused Russia of planning “terrorist acts” in the air against Poland and other countries.

Tusk claimed after meeting in Warsaw with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. The Polish prime minister was referring to packages that exploded in supply depots in Europe, which Western security officials said were part of a test of a Russian plan to detonate explosives on cargo plane flights to the United States.

The Kremlin has called this claim by Tusk completely unsubstantiated.
