The need to place artificial intelligence at the service of humanity for a better life, says Macron

What the French president said as he concluded the first day of the summit proceedings in Paris

Newsroom February 10 09:00

Artificial intelligence is a remarkable technological and scientific revolution that should be placed at the service of humanity with the aim of a better life. This was emphasized by French President Emmanuel Macron, as he concluded the first day of the summit on artificial intelligence, taking place in Paris.

The French president reiterated that an amount of 109 billion euros will be invested in the coming years in initiatives to support the development of artificial intelligence in France. He also highlighted the need to protect intellectual property rights, stating that artificial intelligence will change human activities in many sectors, but creation will still remain human. Specifically referring to his own country, he mentioned that there are already 40,000 scientists specialized in artificial intelligence, with the goal being to train about 100,000 people every year. However, he pointed out the need to end the brain drain from Europe toward the United States, and, in an apparent reference to US President Trump, he said he prefers “connections” to “drillings.”

Finally, the French president called on Europeans to buy European products, emphasizing the need for simplification of European legislation and for a deepening of the European market.
