Great interest in “My Home 2” – 70,000 pre-approvals and 800 inclusions so far

800 inclusions in the "My Home 2" program – A total of 20,000 citizens will benefit – The program will run until funds are exhausted

Newsroom February 17 01:04

Approximately 70,000 pre-approvals have been issued so far under the “My Home 2” housing policy program via gov.gr, according to statements made today in an interview with ERT by Deputy Minister of Finance, Nikos Papathanasis.

Moreover, he highlighted that 800 inclusions have already been approved by the banks, with a total value of €94 million. He added that “the average loan amount is approximately €110,000, and 20,000 fellow citizens will benefit from the program.”

Additionally, he noted that “the average age of the participants is 37 years, their average income is €21,000, 60% of them are married, 40% are single, and the average home value is €140,000.”

It is worth mentioning that the program will remain open until funds are exhausted. A memorandum of cooperation will also be signed between the Land Registry and the Hellenic Development Bank to speed up the process of finalizing contracts under this program.

In another part of the interview, Mr. Papathanasis emphasized that “40% of the applications for ‘My Home 2’ come from individuals aged between 40 and 50,” adding that this was one of the reasons the age limit was expanded.

When asked about the Cyclades islands affected by seismic activity, he stated, “Whenever such events occur, the State stands by our fellow citizens. Therefore, the relevant ministry, the Ministry of Civil Protection, has already taken action.”

“Upgrade My Home” Program

Statistical data was also provided by Mr. Papathanasis regarding the “Upgrade My Home” program, mentioning that “so far, 10 contracts have been signed, with an average value of €17,000.” He emphasized that “this is a program offering interest-free loans of up to €25,000 for seven years. We expect 20,000 fellow citizens to take advantage of this loan.”

Furthermore, the Deputy Minister pointed out that “just like ‘My Home 2,’ this program is funded by the Recovery and Resilience Facility, with €400 million allocated for zero-interest loans to citizens looking to upgrade their homes. Unlike other programs where multiple actions are required, here you can simply replace your window frames, install a heat pump, or add thermal insulation—whatever suits your needs.”
