Kyriakos Mitsotakis will visit Abu Dhabi on Thursday to meet with the President of the United Arab Emirates, Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan

The purpose of the visit is to reaffirm and deepen the strategic partnership between Greece and the UAE, which was established in 2020 and has already yielded significant economic and investment results

Newsroom February 26 10:15

The visit comes at a time of broader geopolitical shifts in the region, and the discussions are expected to focus on regional issues, particularly developments in the Middle East, with an emphasis on strengthening cooperation in economic, political, and defense matters. Abu Dhabi plays a crucial role in the region, and the meeting is expected to enhance cooperation and relations between the two countries, aiming for stability and peace in the area.

It is noteworthy that this will be the fourth visit by the Greek Prime Minister to the UAE, highlighting the ongoing commitment of both countries to deepen their relations. Greece is seen as playing an important role as a bridge between the Middle East and Europe through the Economic Corridor IMEC.

The success of the economic cooperation so far is evident, with the 2022 investment initiative worth €4 billion, which includes investments in sectors such as infrastructure, renewable energy, healthcare, food, and pharmaceuticals. This collaboration continues with institutional cooperation between the state investment funds Mubadala and ADQ and the Hellenic Development Bank of Investments.

Furthermore, investments in areas such as hospitality, real estate, food products, and technology are on the rise, with Greece aiming to attract even more landmark investments, particularly in energy, connectivity, digital technology, and agri-food products.
