Marinakis: Truth, justice, never again—The demands of mass, peaceful protests

No political party has the right, not even to imagine, to turn the citizens' sentiments into demands of a petty political nature

Pavlos Marinakis, the government spokesperson, emphasized that the demands arising from today’s mass and peaceful demonstrations are clear: Truth, Justice, and Never Again. He stressed that no political party has the right to turn these demands into small-scale political objectives.

In a statement marking the two-year anniversary of the tragic Tempi train crash, Marinakis called on the state to honor the collective demand of “never again” by implementing more policies aimed at ensuring the safety of Greece’s railways. He acknowledged the immense grief of the families who lost their loved ones that night, noting that for them, time had stopped. For the victims’ families and for all of society, the core demands remain: Truth, Justice, Never Again.

These demands were expressed today by citizens across the country through peaceful rallies, social media posts, and silent gestures of solidarity. Marinakis emphasized that these sentiments should not be exploited for political gain. He also highlighted that democracy proved its strength by protecting those participating in the peaceful protests. Unfortunately, he noted, some toxic minority groups attempted to tarnish this day of mourning, but the police responded with professionalism and calm, ensuring the protection of protesters.
