Tsiodra’s intervention in the European Parliament on Syria: It is unacceptable for the EU to stand by & watch the killing of Christians

The MEP of the New Democracy Party stressed that "Christians have been in Syria for thousands of years and today in 2025 they are in danger of extinction"

The need for Europe to show determination to stop the killing of Christians in Syria and punish the guilty parties, Dimitris Tsiodras stressed in his intervention at the plenary session of the European Parliament.

The MEP and spokesman of the New Democracy‘s Eurogroup noted that we are watching with horror and disgust the persecution and killings of Christians and other ethnic and religious groups in Syria.

He underlined that “Christians have been in Syria for thousands of years and today in 2025 they are in danger of annihilation” and stressed that this is something that under no circumstances can we watch with indifference.

He concluded by saying that the time has come for Europe to show its resolve and make it clear to the new regime in Syria that there will be consequences.
