At the same time, U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio was briefing reporters at the G7 meeting in Canada.

Putin also referred to the US president’s request to save the lives of Ukrainian soldiers, responding to Trump’s post on Truth Social. The US president had written: “I have urgently asked President Putin to save their lives. That would be a horrific massacre, a massacre that hasn’t happened since World War II.”

Commenting on Trump’s remarks, Putin called on the Ukrainian authorities to order the surrender of their soldiers, stressing that if they surrender, Russia guarantees that their lives will be saved.
