Student parade for the 25th of March in downtown Athens today – Which roads are closed, what applies to the metro and tram

The student parade will take place in front of the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier – Full details of all traffic restrictions.

Today, Monday at 11 a.m., the student parade will take place in downtown Athens to commemorate the anniversary of March 25th, 1821.

The parade will be held in front of the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, followed by a wreath-laying ceremony by the political and military leadership.

Tomorrow, the military parade will be held in the center of Athens.

How the Metro and Tram Will Operate

Due to the parades held in celebration of the National Anniversary, traffic regulations will apply to the Metro and Tram:

Specifically, according to STASY:

– The “Syntagma” Metro station, by order of the Hellenic Police (ELAS), will close on both Monday, March 24 and Tuesday, March 25 from 8:00 a.m. until the end of the parades. Trains will pass through the station without stopping.

– On Tram Line 7 “Asklipieio Voulas – Agia Triada Piraeus,” on Tuesday 25/3 from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., routes will terminate at the “SEF” stop (Asklipieio Voulas – SEF), and from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the “P. Dimarcheio” stop (P. Dimarcheio – SEF).

Which Roads Will Be Closed

Due to the parades, temporary traffic restrictions will also be in effect on roads and avenues in the Municipality of Athens, as follows:

There will be temporary and gradual suspension of vehicle traffic from 10:00 a.m. on 24-3-2025 until the end of the events, as well as a parking and stopping ban from 6:00 a.m. until the end of the events on the following avenues and streets:

– Vasilissis Amalias Avenue, along its entire length in both directions, including its perpendicular streets up to the first parallel.

– Vasilissis Sofias Avenue, from Sekeri Street to Vasilissis Amalias Avenue, in the direction toward Syntagma Square.

– Vasileos Georgiou I Street, along its entire length.

– Eleftheriou Venizelou Avenue (Panepistimiou), along its entire length and perpendicular streets up to the first parallel.

– Vasilissis Olgas Avenue, along its entire length and in both traffic directions.

– Syngrou Avenue, from Athanasiou Diakou Street to Dionysiou Areopagitou Street, in the direction toward Syntagma Square.

It is noted that on Tuesday 25-3-2025, student parades will be held in various municipalities of Attica, during which the Traffic Police will implement the necessary traffic measures.

The Hellenic Police urges drivers, for their convenience and to avoid further traffic congestion, to avoid traveling and parking their vehicles on the aforementioned roads and avenues during the specified times and to follow the signals and instructions of traffic officers.
