Mitsotakis: The Greek economy, with a plan and responsibility, will cope with the new realities after Trump tariffs

The trade war will hurt everyone. I hope we will soon see a de-escalation of these practices, said the Prime Minister

Newsroom April 3 01:37

The assurance that the Greek economy will responsibly cope with the new realities created by the tariffs announced by Donald Trump was given by Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis from Kozani.

“We have always been advocates of global free trade. I believe that the trade war will harm everyone. I hope that we will soon see a de-escalation of these protectionist practices,” added Mr. Mitsotakis.

As he said, “Greece will play an important role in the EU because that is where decisions will be made on how we will react.”

Specifically regarding President Trump’s announcements, he spoke of “a colossal shift in international economic policy and a very abrupt change in the way the global economic system operates.”

Western Macedonia

On the occasion of the event on the theme “Just Development Transition and Entrepreneurship: Western Macedonia is entering a new era”, the Prime Minister also said that “the projects and initiatives that we have launched in Western Macedonia are numerous. Our plan has a central goal, the creation of many good and new jobs that will replace jobs due to delignitization”.

“We had to give visibility and perspective to young people. Today we are more optimistic about where we are. The program has run faster, these actions alone will create over 2,500 jobs and we are still at the beginning. We hope that we will be able to attract other investments to make Western Macedonia a pole of extroversion”, added the Prime Minister.

As he stressed, “the emphasis we place on the implementation of the plan is something that is proven by the data and the projects that are coming and will be completed, infrastructure projects, irrigation projects,” making special reference to the E65 “an emblematic project for western Macedonia and my personal bet, which will be ready by the fall of 2025.”

“It is not only western Macedonia in transition, the whole country must run quickly to cover the ground of the economic crisis,” emphasized the prime minister, who announced another program for 700 unemployed people in the Kozani region.
