“These kinds of fait accompli will definitely not be allowed,” Turkish security sources say. The newspaper writes that as part of this project “the countdown has begun for the return of research vessels to international waters east of Kasos and Karpathos.”

As it reports, Turkey‘s diplomatic said that “these activities clearly violate international law and the basic rules on maritime jurisdictions.“

“Greece‘s unilateral steps were provocative in circumstances where the boundaries of the continental shelf and the exclusive economic zone (EEZ) in the Aegean and Eastern Mediterranean have not yet been defined by common consensus. Ankara has previously stated on international platforms that such activities are contrary to the UN Convention on the Law of the Sea and the principles of good neighborliness,” the same sources told Türkiye.
