5 shop owners and managers arrested in Anavyssos for illegal occupation of a beach

The shops were licensed as a canteen, but had put up sunbeds, umbrellas and table seating

The Police Department raided yesterday morning, Sunday, May 11, at a beach of Anavyssos to ensure free public access to the beaches.

As announced by the ELAS, five shop owners and temporary managers were arrested during the raid. While holding a canteen license, they had placed table seats and speakers, turning them into open bars. In addition, they had installed umbrellas and chairs on a large area of the beach.

A case was filed against them for illegal occupation of a beach, while the relevant authorities were informed.

The arrested persons were taken to the competent prosecutor.

Finally, according to the ELAS, “…similar actions are being carried out on the coastal front of Attica”.
