New revelations in the case of child abuse in Larissa – 50-year-old man being sought who visited the mother’s house

New disturbing details have emerged regarding the abuse case of two young children, aged 5 and 6, in Larissa, Greece

Newsroom May 20 04:24

The 32-year-old mother has been arrested on charges of domestic violence and exposing minors to danger, while authorities have issued a warrant for a 50-year-old man who frequently visited her home and was identified by the children, in their testimonies to doctors, as the person who hurt them. Additionally, the children’s father—her ex-husband—is also facing charges after the mother accused him of abusing the children during a recent visit.

The father denies all accusations, stating he was working in Livadeia at the time and has witnesses to support his alibi. He appeared in court seeking custody but was informed by the prosecutor that he is under investigation.

The Mother’s Messages About the Burns on Her Children

The mother sent troubling messages to a friend while at the General Hospital of Larissa, saying:

“We shouldn’t have come because they saw the wounds on the kids. I’m afraid they’ll complain and call social services. We shouldn’t have brought them. I’m scared of these things—I don’t trust anyone.”

A friend of the mother said in an interview with STAR TV:

“I had seen the marks. When I asked her, she said, ‘They’re just scratching. I used to do that when I was little too.’”

Hospital Findings

Everything came to light when the mother brought her children to the emergency room last Saturday night due to breathing problems in one child. However, doctors noticed burn marks on the child that resembled cigarette burns.

Upon examining the second child, doctors found similar injuries. Authorities were immediately notified.

  • The 6-year-old girl had injuries on her arms and legs.
  • The 5-year-old boy had injuries on his face, arms, legs, buttocks, and spine.
  • He also had drawings on his buttocks and painted fingernails, raising further concern.
  • A forensic medical exam revealed older burn marks, indicating possible long-term abuse.

Background on the Mother

Reports also reveal that the mother had previously lost custody of another child in Cyprus, who had been hospitalized due to malnutrition.

Current Status

  • The mother is under arrest.
  • The children are being cared for in the pediatric unit of the hospital.
  • Investigations are ongoing, and the 50-year-old suspect is still at large.
