Giannis Antetokounmpo to stay with the Bucks “For the time being,” Says ESPN

“There will be no trade involving Giannis Antetokounmpo in the short-term future,” according to ESPN journalist Brian Windhorst

Newsroom June 13 10:30

Giannis Antetokounmpo is expected to remain with the Milwaukee Bucks, according to prominent ESPN journalist Brian Windhorst. Speaking on the network’s “Get Up” show, Windhorst stated that there is no trade expected involving the two-time NBA MVP this summer, as both the Bucks and Antetokounmpo appear committed to continuing their partnership.

“There will be no trade involving Giannis Antetokounmpo in the short term,” said Windhorst. “The league has accepted and realized that the Bucks will keep him and that Giannis is not planning to request a trade. I can’t speak for what might happen in August.”

Recently, Antetokounmpo himself — who has been with the Bucks since 2013 and led them to an NBA Championship in 2021 — expressed his desire to return to the NBA Finals with the team.

Although no official talks between Giannis and the Bucks’ front office have been reported, the atmosphere in Milwaukee suggests confidence that the Greek superstar remains loyal and fully committed to the franchise.

The Bucks are even planning significant changes to restructure the roster around Antetokounmpo in an effort to seriously contend for another title.

Last season, Antetokounmpo averaged 30.4 points, 11.9 rebounds, 6.5 assists, and 1.2 blocks per game, finishing third in the MVP voting.
