Mitsotakis on the Council of State’s decision regarding non-state universities – An end to dogmas, our country ceases to be a global exception

Starting from the new academic year, not only will we stop forcing our children to leave their homeland, but we will also attract students from other countries, says the Prime Minister

Newsroom June 14 04:46

Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis described yesterday as a “historic” day, referring to the decision issued by the Council of State, which ruled that the government’s law on non-state universities is constitutional.

“Our country ceases to be a global exception along with Cuba. With the Council of State’s seal of approval, an end is put to the taboos and dogmas of those who used the Constitution as an excuse to keep us stuck in irrationality and backwardness,” the Prime Minister stated today in a post on TikTok.

He continued: “For decades, tens of thousands of Greek families sent their children abroad simply because they did not have the option of studying at non-state universities in their homeland. From the upcoming academic year, not only will we stop forcing these children to leave their country, but we will also be able to attract students from other countries. I won’t even get into the significant new investments, the developmental footprint, and the many new jobs that will be created. And let’s not forget, all of this is happening alongside the strengthening of the Greek public university system. We move forward! Because in the end, progress doesn’t come through slogans but through hard work and bold reforms.”
