Giannis Antetokounmpo jokes about becoming a streamer…“About the money!” “I don’t think you have a money problem,” Mariah told him

The Greek Freak shows no shortage of energy during his break from competitive action

Newsroom June 20 01:16

Even during his off-season, NBA superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo isn’t slowing down—at least not when it comes to energy or ambition. In a lighthearted and entertaining exchange streamed live on TikTok, the “Greek Freak” toyed with the idea of launching a side career as a content creator. The motive? Not fame, not passion—just cold hard cash.

Inspired by the surge of athletes jumping onto platforms like Twitch, Giannis appeared genuinely intrigued by the streaming world. During the broadcast, he teased the possibility of starting his own channel and even called on famous streamers IShowSpeed and Kai Cenat to help him “get started.” His wife, Mariah Riddlesprigger, wasn’t having it.

In a now-viral video clip, the couple banter over Giannis’ would-be streaming career. Mariah gently reminds him of their four kids and full plate of responsibilities. “Please don’t,” she pleads, “we’re fine.” Giannis fires back, “Do you know how much money they make?” Her dry retort? “I don’t think you have a money problem.”

Their chemistry shines in the moment, filled with laughter and playful teasing. Giannis, amused by TikTok’s visual filters, jokes about dreadlocks, audience questions, and the high earnings of top streamers. But Mariah remains the voice of reason, keeping him grounded in family life—though fans were clearly loving the idea of a “Greek Freak” stream.

This isn’t the first time athletes have been drawn to the streaming spotlight. PSG manager Luis Enrique, for example, has used Twitch to reflect on deeply personal topics, including the loss of his daughter, long before his team’s Champions League triumph brought new attention to his story.

Whether or not Giannis trades the hardwood for a headset, one thing’s for sure: he knows how to entertain, even without a basketball in sight.
