The Fire Department has dispatched significant resources to the scene:

  • 42 firefighters
  • 2 ground units from the 2nd and 7th Special Units for Forest Operations
  • 10 fire trucks
  • 3 helicopters assisting from the air

The fire is being fueled by strong winds, causing frequent flare-ups that make containment efforts extremely difficult.

Civil Protection Alert

An emergency alert via 112 was sent to residents in the affected area, urging them to remain on standby, follow official instructions, and prepare for possible evacuation if conditions worsen.

The situation remains critical, with local authorities and emergency services on constant alert. Citizens are monitoring the advancing flames with concern, as the fire continues to threaten the city’s outskirts.

Road Closures and Access Restrictions

Authorities have closed the old national road between Kavala and Xanthi in both directions.
Police are also stopping drivers from entering the Aspri Ammos area from Perigiali, advising them to turn back.

Access to Kavala from the east is now prohibited due to the fire reaching the main road.

Residents Taking Precautions

Locals have been seen hosing down their yards and building exteriors in an effort to prevent the flames from spreading to their homes.
