A commitment from Budget Commissioner Serafin Piotr that the European Union will not fund Turkey with defence programs was requested by New Democracy MEP George Aftias.

“I want an answer now,” was the MEP’s phrase, who reiterated that Europe has an obligation not to arm Turkey with European taxpayers’ money.

“It’s immoral, it’s absurd and out of logic to fund Turkey to get into defense through programs,” the Greek MEP said.
