Telephone conversation with Syrian leader Ahmad al-Sara was held today, Thursday, July 17, by Recep Tayyip Erdogan, in the wake of the Israeli attacks on Damascus and the clash between the Syrian army and the Druze rebels in the south of the country.

According to a statement from the Directorate of Communications of the Turkish Presidency, Tayyip Erdogan called Israel’s attacks against Syria unacceptable and asserted that “the aggression of Israel is a threat to the entire region and that Turkey will continue to support the Syrian people as it has done so far.”

The Turkish president also welcomed the ceasefire reached with the Druze in Syria.

The statement noted that the Syrian president thanked President Erdogan for his support in maintaining the unity, territorial integrity and sovereignty of Syria.
