Meeting between Chief of ELAS and Animal Welfare Federation – Workshops for the information of police officers

The Chief of the Hellenic Police emphasized that animal protection issues are a priority for police personnel, with ongoing efforts to enforce existing legislation

Stricter police checks, strict enforcement of laws protecting animals and punishing abuse, and joint seminars between the police and animal welfare organizations across the country were the main topics of discussion during a meeting held on Wednesday between the Chief of the Hellenic Police, Lieutenant General Dimitrios Mallios, and representatives of the animal welfare federation “Nemesis.”

According to the Hellenic Police (ELAS), the meeting was also attended by officers from the Animal Protection Department of the Directorate of Social Policing, as well as the Federation’s president, Natassa Bobolaki. Discussions focused on animal protection issues, with particular emphasis on the need to intensify police checks and ensure full compliance with the law by police staff.

President Bobolaki highlighted the importance of further strengthening and educating police personnel on matters related to animal protection. Both sides confirmed their shared commitment to co-organizing informational seminars at the General Regional Police Directorates throughout the country.

Mr. Mallios stressed that animal protection is a priority for the police force, and that active efforts are being made to enforce current legislation.
