Trump signs Executive Order for increased student admissions data from Universities

The Trump administration plans to expand the range of mandatory data that educational institutions must submit, while also intensifying the scrutiny of the accuracy of this information

Newsroom August 7 07:04

Donald Trump is set to sign a new executive order requiring universities and colleges that receive federal funding to increase transparency regarding student admissions data.

The order mandates the U.S. Department of Education to undertake a comprehensive overhaul of the Higher Education Data System, a collection of surveys designed to show the cost of attendance at higher education institutions, the composition of the student body, and other data related to admissions and enrollment.

At the same time, the Trump administration plans to broaden the scope of mandatory data submissions by institutions and to intensify the auditing process to ensure accuracy. According to a senior White House official cited by Bloomberg, the Department of Education will now be authorized to take corrective actions if incomplete or inaccurate records are identified.

This move is part of President Trump’s broader plan to restructure higher education in the U.S., which already includes cutting hundreds of millions of dollars in funding and grants to top universities, including Harvard and Princeton. This executive order also reinforces a previous directive targeting diversity promotion programs at American universities.
