The 45-year-old Porsche driver faces felony charges, granted extension until Tuesday – Remains in custody, what she claimed about alcohol and the sedative

Felony charges have been filed against her by the prosecutor – What her lawyers claim

Newsroom August 30 05:00

The 45-year-old Porsche driver faces felony charges, granted extension until Tuesday – Remains in custody, what she claimed about alcohol and the sedative.

The 45-year-old driver of the Porsche involved in the Thessaloniki accident was granted an extension until next Tuesday to testify. Until then, she remains in custody.

Upon leaving the prosecutor’s office, her legal representatives commented both on the possibility that the woman was under the influence of narcotic substances and on whether another person may have been driving her car.

“It was the Xanax she took at the hospital, while she was in shock, she said so herself. The toxicology and blood tests were absolutely clean. Her mistake is that she was driving a Porsche, she is blonde, she is a wealthy and successful woman. That is not easily accepted,” said Konstantinos Oikonomou.

For his part, Michalis Sanidas stated: “She will testify on Tuesday, the truth will come to light. A woman who has nothing to do with courts, she has two children… courtrooms are not part of her mentality. In Thessaloniki there are 7 to 10 accidents just like this every day. As for the breathalyzer result, errors happen.”

On whether someone else was driving the Porsche, Mr. Sanidas said: “There is no such indication so far. There was no abandonment, she was injured, in shock, and she was taken to the hospital.”

Statements from the lawyers of the 45-year-old Porsche driver

Earlier, the prosecutor filed felony charges against her over the serious traffic accident with two injured victims, in the early hours of Friday morning, on the Thessaloniki–Nea Moudania highway, near a well-known shopping center in Thermi.

The 45-year-old is charged with dangerous driving that could endanger human life and resulted in serious bodily harm, bodily harm through negligence on multiple counts, and abandonment by a driver responsible for a traffic accident that resulted in injury to others.

In addition, the defendant is charged with driving under the influence of narcotic substances, as she admitted to having taken a sedative pill (Xanax), which she reportedly claimed was administered to her at the hospital she was taken to after the accident.

After the prosecutor filed charges against her, she was referred to the 3rd special investigating magistrate, where she requested and was granted an extension to prepare her defense. It is noted that the results of the toxicological tests are still pending and will be added to the case file.
