The 12th Tour du Péloponnèse kicks off, October 5–12 (video-photos)

150 participants from 20 countries! A total of 200 people embark on a unique 9-day, 1,000-kilometer route through the Peloponnese

The Tour du Péloponnèse is not just an event… It is a magical journey into the world of classic cars, consistently bringing together more than 70 crews, the vast majority from abroad.

150 participants from 20 countries! Together with mechanics, support teams, and organizers, a total of 200 people embark on a unique 9-day, 1,000-kilometer route through the micro-geography of the Peloponnese. With 24 precision special stages and 170 satellite time checks, the Tour du Péloponnèse is rightly considered the largest Greek classic and historic car event.

Looking at the list of participants, one realizes how subjective the term “beautiful cars” really is. Perhaps the more fitting—though somewhat stereotypical but still true—expression would be “vehicles that move us,” since they awaken memories in all of us: of old races, films, friends who are no longer with us but left behind something unique, the sweet memory that turned from a fleeting moment into a lasting imprint.

This year the TdP will begin with the Technical–Administrative Check on October 5th at the Aldemar Olympian Village in Skafidia. The official start, as always, will take place that evening in Ancient Olympia (…the very cradle of Sports), under the auspices of the Municipality of Ancient Olympia, with crews setting off at 20:00.

(There is no TdP without the legendary Tsoufa…)

The first “competitive” day, Monday, October 6th, will take the participants to the Temple of Apollo Epicurius, ending with an overnight stay at Costa Navarino. On the second day, Tuesday, October 7th, the crews will drive along coastal routes through Pylos, Methoni, Messini, Kalamata, Kardamyli, with the day concluding in Limeni. Spectacular seaside routes will also feature on the third day, Wednesday, October 8th, passing through Gerolimenas, Vatheia, Kotronas, and Gythio. The day will end in Sparta, with crews staying in the imposing Mystras, beneath the watchful eye of the medieval citadel.

The fourth day, Thursday, October 9th, will showcase the uniquely beautiful landscapes of Laconia, with routes through Geraki and Elaia before finishing in Monemvasia. The final leg of the fifth day will be equally impressive, passing through Gerakas, Kyparissi, Fokiano, and Leonidio, leading to the stately Nafplio, the first capital of Greece, where preparations will be made for the traditional Night Special Stage that always concludes the TdP, as it is affectionately called by the “initiated.”
