Police officers arrested two Romanians for espionage on Monday afternoon as photographs of the Salamina Hellenic Navy Base were found on their mobile phones.

The two Romanians, aged 22 and 52, were found inside a tourist boat sailing in the channel of the Strait of Salamina and were immobilized by a Hellenic Navy boat.

The two Romanian men were taken to the Central Port Authority of Piraeus, where they were arrested for violation of article 148 of the Criminal Code (Espionage). At the same time, 3 mobile phones, 4,700 euros and 400 dollars found in their possession were confiscated, while the boat they were on was taken to the Salamis Port Authority in order to carry out a thorough check of its shipping documents.
