Iran: inspectors of the Atomic Energy Organization visited the nuclear installations

We adhere to our commitments based on participation in the Treaty for the Non Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons, is the message of Tehran

Newsroom November 10 02:40

Inspectors of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) visited Iranian nuclear installations last week, said today a spokesman of the Iranian foreign ministry, according to state media, one week after the IAEA called on Iran to “significantly improve” cooperation.

The IAEA has carried out over 10 inspections in Iran after the hostilities with Israel in June, but last week stressed that it has not been given access to nuclear installations such as those of Fordow, Natanz and Isfahan which were bombed by the USA.

“As long as we participate in the NPT (Treaty for the Non Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons), we will adhere to our commitments and just last week inspectors of the IAEA visited nuclear installations, including the Tehran Research Reactor,” said Ismail Baghaei without naming the other installations.

The head of the IAEA, Rafael Grossi, said last week that Iran must “significantly improve” the cooperation with the inspectors of the United Nations to prevent the escalation of tension with the West.

Iranian officials have accused the IAEA that it offers excuses for the bombings of Israel in the 12-day war in June, which started one day after the council of the IAEA sided in favor of declaring Iran violator of its obligations based on the Treaty for the Non Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons.

The comments of Baghaei today were made in reply to Grossi who said last week that Iran “cannot declare that ‘I remain in the treaty for the non proliferation of nuclear weapons’ and then not comply with the obligations.”
