Hearts broke at the funeral of 3-year-old Andreas in western Achaia: “Where are you, my love?” cried his mother

The entire village gathered to bid farewell to the little boy who so unfairly lost his life – After the ceremony, they released white balloons into the sky

Newsroom November 13 01:06

Emotional scenes unfolded on Thursday in the village of Spata, Western Achaia, as family, friends, and neighbors said their final goodbye to 3-year-old Andreas, who tragically lost his life after falling from a wall while in the arms of his 25-year-old relative, who had become dizzy after hitting his head on a balcony.

The child’s mother and grandmother were heartbreaking figures, devastated and unable to comprehend the tragedy that had struck their family. “Where are you, my love?” cried the mother as she accompanied her son’s small white coffin.

The funeral took place at the Church of the Dormition of the Virgin Mary, with the entire village in attendance—unable to accept that little Andreas was no longer with them.

At the end of the service, dozens of white balloons were released into the air in his memory.

The 25-Year-Old Relative Remains in Shock

The 25-year-old relative who fell while holding the child remains in a state of deep shock. Through his lawyer, he expressed his devastation and profound remorse over the tragic incident.

“I cannot justify myself for what happened. I will never be able to overcome it—I can’t bear it. It will weigh on my conscience and follow me for the rest of my life,” he said, visibly distraught.

“He Became Dizzy and Lost His Balance”

According to witness statements, the 25-year-old—who was holding the child in his arms—became dizzy and lost his balance, causing both to fall to the ground. The incident took place outside the family’s home in the area of Agios Nikolaos, Spata.

The 3-year-old was initially rushed to the Kato Achaia Health Center and then transferred to Karaman-danio Children’s Hospital in Patras. Doctors found he had sustained severe head injuries and made superhuman efforts to revive him, performing CPR for about 40 minutes, but sadly, little Andreas did not survive.

The 25-year-old, who was also injured in the fall, was taken to St. Andreas Hospital. In his statement to police, he said, “I was holding him in my arms, and we fell together.”

A case file for involuntary manslaughter was opened against him, and he was briefly detained but later released by order of the prosecutor, as the child’s family does not wish to pursue criminal charges.
