Christos Ferentinos rates the political leaders and talks about his encounters with Konstantopoulou and Kasselakis

From political commentary to personal confessions, Ferentinos reveals the moments that defined him

Newsroom November 16 09:04

The well-known TV host speaks on “First Word” with Antonis Sroiter about his sons, the possibility of remarrying, and the challenges he faced during the years of the bailout memoranda. He also comments on the prospect of entering politics.

In his interview with Protothema.gr and First Word, a different side of Christos Ferentinos emerges—one that steps away from television to talk politics and politicians. He evaluates party leaders, discusses the prime minister and the government, and recounts how he first met Zoe Konstantopoulou and Stefanos Kasselakis. Asked whether he would ever run for office, he leaves open—for now—the possibility of becoming the mayor of his area.

He revisits the times of the financial crisis and capital controls, speaking about those who had money abroad and wanted to push Greece back to the drachma. He also remembers queueing like everyone else to withdraw the daily €80 limit during the bank shutdown.

Ferentinos admits he actually enjoyed the pandemic restrictions, as they allowed him to stay home and binge-watch series without needing to go anywhere. He talks about living with his two sons and the household chores he handles, particularly sweeping and… balcony maintenance.

He describes his life as a bachelor in recent years and jokes that he plans to “misbehave” when he gets older, going out to bars again. Until then, he wouldn’t say no to a second marriage if the right person appears. After all, his first wedding was a simple, private ceremony, and he would like to experience the joy of waiting at the altar—bouquet in hand!

Speaking about his nearly 35-year career in journalism and television, he recalls getting his first job thanks to Giorgos Aftias. He talks about his shows—those he considers his biggest successes—and the golden years of TV with its stars and high salaries. He also comments on his successor on Deal, Giorgos Thanailakis, and on figures like Eleni Menegaki, who is no longer on television.
