GPO poll: who are the political figures and events of 2025

New Democracy at 28% in the voting intention estimation with PASOK in second place with 14.6%

The political figures and events in Greece and abroad that stood out in 2025 are reflected in GPO’s barometer for Parapolitika FM.

Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis emerged as the top political figure for the second consecutive year with 25.5%, followed by Kyriakos Pierrakakis at 17.2%, Alexis Tsipras at 16.3%, Zoe Konstantopoulou at 10.3%, and Maria Karystianou at 7.9%.

Regarding the most significant global events of the year, respondents highlighted the end of hostilities in Gaza (33%), the rapid growth of artificial intelligence (26.8%), President Trump’s interventions to end the war in Ukraine (18%), and the imposition of US trade tariffs (8.2%).

For Greece, the events that stood out were the OPEKEPE case (40.6%), nationwide rallies for Tempi (27.6%), the country’s energy agreements (11.8%), rural protests (7.4%), and the recent election of the Greek finance minister as Eurogroup chairman (7.3%).

Concerning the country’s economic situation, 22.2% of respondents expect an improvement, 30% expect stagnation, and 47.1% foresee deterioration. On a personal level, 21.7% anticipate better finances, 42.3% expect stability, and 33.5% predict a worsening.

Looking ahead to 2026, the dominant feeling is insecurity (37.1%), although hope (26.4%) and optimism (24.3%) were also reported.

In terms of party preference based on valid votes, New Democracy remains first with 28%, followed by PASOK at 14.6%, Hellenic Solution at 11.9%, Course of Freedom at 10.1%, KKE at 10%, SYRIZA at 5%, Voice of Logic at 2.7%, and MPA25, Niki, and Movement for Democracy at 2.3%.

In terms of overall voting intention, New Democracy stands at 23.7%, PASOK at 12.3%, Hellenic Solution at 10.1%, and Course of Freedom at 8.5%.
