Opinion Poll: New Democracy at 29.7% in voting intention, holding a 16.1-point lead over a stagnant PASOK; Gains for Greek Solution and Plevsi

The ruling New Democracy maintains a wide lead as price pressures dominate voter concerns and smaller parties post gains

Newsroom December 17 07:31

According to an Opinion Poll survey, New Democracy (ND) stands at 29.7% in estimated voting intention, recording a loss of half a percentage point compared to November. The poll, presented on Action 24’s main news bulletin, shows ND maintaining a substantial lead of 16.1 percentage points over PASOK, whose support remains virtually unchanged, posting a marginal decline of 0.1 points.

PASOK leader Nikos Androulakis also continues to show stagnant figures in leadership suitability, ranking fourth for the premiership. Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis leads the category with a 19.4-point advantage over Zoe Konstantopoulou, who has made a political comeback through the parliamentary inquiry into the OPEKEPE scandal.

Also polling higher than the PASOK leader is Kyriakos Velopoulos, while Greek Solution and Course of Freedom (Plefsi Eleftherias) record the largest gains in the current political climate. Public concern is dominated by the continued rise in prices, with one in five voters identifying as undecided. Greek Solution ranks third with 11.9%, gaining 1.2 points within a month, while Course of Freedom rises by 1.1 points.

A marginal increase of 0.1 percentage points is recorded in the “certain” potential vote for a hypothetical “Tsipras party,” reaching 9%, while a potential party led by Antonis Samaras stands at 3.6%.

At the same time, Greek society appears deeply divided over road blockades by farmers. 8.2% believe farmers’ demands have already been satisfied and that road closures are unjustified; 40.7% consider the demands fair but oppose road closures; and 47.5% believe both that the demands are fair and that farmers have the right to choose their form of protest.

Despite a challenging and uncertain environment—primarily driven by economic pressures—a significant portion of the population (39.7%) expresses optimism for 2026, while 46.5% say they feel pessimistic.
