Akylas receives rave reviews for his Eurovision 2026 Greek final entry: “We might actually win with this little gem,” Fans write

Akylas has been met with enthusiastic praise following the presentation of his song “Ferto,” with which he is competing for a place in the Greek national final of Eurovision 2026.

Newsroom January 18 10:19

The artist is among the 28 finalists who qualified for the two Greek semi-finals. On Saturday, January 17, the songs competing in the First Semi-Final were presented during ERT’s show “EurovisionGR.”

Among the songs that stood out during the presentation was “Ferto.” Comments under the song, which was uploaded to YouTube, have been overwhelmingly positive, praising both the artist and the song choice. Appearing against an orange backdrop, wearing a black beanie and sunglasses, Akylas seems to have convinced a large portion of Eurovision fans.

More specifically, audience reactions so far have been highly enthusiastic, with many describing the song as a “little gem” and a “massive track,” expressing confidence that it could even win Eurovision. Some are calling on Greece to send Akylas to the contest, stressing that “this is the only song that fits Eurovision,” while others say that “if Akylas doesn’t go, we’ve failed.” Particularly exuberant reactions include comments such as “Eurovision needs him” and “if he can fill a space with just a microphone, imagine what he’ll do on the Vienna stage,” reflecting the strong wave of support and anticipation surrounding his entry.

Support from Fellow Artists

Among those publicly supporting Akylas is Efi Thodi. In a video posted on Akylas’s TikTok account, the singer appears singing “Ferto” alongside her. “Efi asked for it, and I’ll deliver it,” Akylas noted.

“The Song Talks About Overconsumption and Greed”

In an interview on “Studio 4” on January 14, Akylas explained the meaning behind “Ferto.” The song addresses overconsumption and greed, as well as his personal journey toward success.

“I wanted it to be upbeat, something I could dance to and truly live,” he said. “It’s a song that can make you move, but also move you emotionally, because there’s meaning behind it. It talks about overconsumption and greed. Essentially, it reflects the unfulfilled desires of this character, the things he dreamed of doing as a child but couldn’t, because his parents struggled to provide them. It’s a message for all children in the same situation.”

At the same time, he explained that the song reflects elements of his own life:
“The song talks about the journey from lack to success. Just being among the 28 finalists, having my team and my friends supporting me, is incredible. I grew up in a household with serious financial difficulties. The song is dedicated to my parents, and to all parents who have tried to do the best they can.”
