Donald Trump’s references to Greenland show no sign of stopping, with the U.S. president even enlisting Artificial Intelligence to convey just how fervently he wants the Arctic island to become American territory.
In the first of two related posts he made on Truth Social on Tuesday morning (Greek time), Trump is depicted holding the American flag and preparing to plant it in the ground of Greenland, evoking the historic photograph of U.S. Marines at Iwo Jima.
In the same image alongside him are U.S. Vice President J.D. Vance and U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio, while there is also a sign reading: “Greenland, U.S. territory from 2026.”

In the second image, Trump has changed a frame from the meeting he had with European leaders of the so-called coalition of the willing for Ukraine in August 2025—a photo that at the time was commented on as showing “teacher” Trump with his “students”: Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, French President Emmanuel Macron, Finnish Prime Minister Alexander Stubb, Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen, and NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte.
In Trump’s version of the controversial photo, a map appears showing the territories belonging to the United States, with Greenland colored in the colors of the American flag, and the same treatment applied to Canada.
