Diplomatic processes are escalating in Oman, where US and Iranian delegations are currently in Oman to discuss Tehran’s nuclear and weapons systems.
According to a briefing provided by the Iranian Foreign Ministry, direct contacts between the country’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, US envoy Stiv Whitcoff, and Donald Trump‘s son-in-law, Jared Kushner, began shortly after 1 p.m. The aim is to find points of contact to prevent further escalation, which could lead to military intervention by Washington, as several US forces remain in the region “with their finger on the trigger”.
Earlier, there were indirect negotiationsbetween the United States and Iran, with the foreign minister of the host country, Badr al-Bousaidi, holding successive and separate meetings with the heads of the two delegations as part of efforts to resume the diplomatic process.
